Dear Brothers and Sisters:
All three of our Committees met this month at different locations. The Fleet Committee met in Dallas June 2-4 with the mediator and the company. Both sides presented proposals and moved closer on some issues. The Company is suppose to respond to the Fleets proposals next on July 28 & 29 in Chicago. M&R and Stores met in Kansas City the week of June 8th. The M&R Committee presented a comprehensive package and can be seen on the negotiate.twu.org website. The next meeting is scheduled back in Kansas City on July 13-17. The Stores Committee met and exchanged proposals on open articles. They reached TA's on Art. 2, 11, 39 and 46. They too will met again in Kansas City the week of the 13th.
I have loaded up the updates above and you can read more at http://negotiate.twu.org
I have been informed that the Company will go ahead with the next Riff in July. This is very unfortunate for our members and it is hard to believe that they will do this in the middle of the summer. Tim Ahern states "that their current operation does not support the level of Fleet Service Clerk staffing that is currently in place". This is hard to believe when we can hardly get out jobs done as it is. There seems to be no level of cuts on Fleet Service that is enough. I have invited the people that think our level of heads is over to spend a day in our shoes with no avail. We will continue to fight for our jobs and try to serve our customers the best that we can. As our customer service quality falls, we know who is to blame. These are hard times for all. Work safe and please be careful at your jobs. We know as we do more with less, that the injuries climb.
Fraternally,
Pete Hogan – President
